    Blauertempel,

Round tractrix horns of composite material must be all the rage in Germany - and I can see why. It seems that the vast majority of such horns are manufactured there.

I have not auditioned the Jabo 55 horns - but am considering it given what I considered the very good performance of the similar (but smaller) horns from Stereo-Lab.de that I'm currently working with (see the last post in the thread "Tractrix (or other) horns for Altec drivers). My goal is to build a much smaller system that still retains much of the Altec "Sound of Experience". It's a work just begun.

The Jabo 55 is designed for the larger throat 288 drivers - something I've never (yet!) played with. Perhaps some of the others would opine on the similarities/differences between them and the 800 series.

BTW, the Stereo-Lab.de horns are available for 1.4" and 2.0" throats and different colors, too.

If you are a 288 guy, it might be good to give these horns a listen. Composite tractrix seems to work pretty darn good, judging from my initial experience. And, FWIW, the Avant-Garde horn systems (also German-made) made Stereophile's "A-list", too.

    HTH
